This father and son tandem from Iowa have a couple of entertaining independent blues releases available to feed your craving for well-played, contemporary blues.
Blues dad BillyLee has a good time with his in-the-pocket, three piece band,using Hammond hauler Sam Salomone to good effect. Janey’s guitar is never far from the action though, his telecaster grinds appear out the blue on the more up tempo numbers, but mellower tracks like “At The Midnite Hour” show the splendid ensemble sound of the band.
There are some great, on-the-one, funky blues workouts here to keep things loose. “BillyLee’s Boogie is particularly rocking.”
