Janey plucks the strings with his thumb, sans the traditional pic, and this in itself lends a warm tone to his masterful, bluesy style. The guy plays from his heart—and that’s the most you can ask from any musician.
Included
here are two compositions written by Salomone- “Gotta Get Outta
This Place” and the beautiful “Velvet Hammer,” a slower instrumental
where the band kicks back and lets the emotion flow. Billy also treats us to
two of his best songs found on previous “Janey” recordings, “Rockin’ Chevy” and
my all-time favorite Billy tune, “Song About A woman.” I’d
love to hear this R&B-flavored rocker on the radio. It has catchy lyrics
and a solid groove that out-classes anything I’ve heard on the dial lately.
Both of these tracks are highlights on this CD and are well-worth an encore performance.
