From the mystically, heavy organ intro on “Magic” to the last licks of “Just Play It,” BillyLee Janey’s latest CD is packed with as much variety as it is talent.

Let’s talk of the music first. An overall word to describe this CD is “butt-rockin.” Such songs as “Magic,” “Good Love” and especially “Rockin’ Chevy” can’t help but make you shake your tail feathers just a little.

The two instrumental, “Firedance” and “The Velvet Hammer” showcase the camaraderie between Janey on guitar and Sam Salomone (IA Big Band and IA Jazz Band) on Hammond B-3 organ. Those two, the second written by Salomone, along with “Rockin’ Horse”- a laid back, bluesy tune—are the only 3 out of 13 cuts that are a tad bit mellow.
