BillyLee Janey hails from Marion, Iowa and is a real-deal-blues-guitarman with stylings incorporating the best influences from players like Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Stevie Ray. This fellow has one setting on his blues attitude knob: eleven!
Whether knocking down a blues rocker shuffle like “Jump Start Your Motor” or funky “Little Bo-Peep” and “Tisket a Tasket” (a la Buddy Guy), this guitarman deals it straight up, no frills. On a down and dirty piece like “Toaster Oven.” BillyLee’s licks smolder and blister on maniac rockers like the title cut “Just Got Lucky.” Blue Band leader Bob Dorr and the incomparable Molly Nova guest on the shimmy-shakin’ closer “Goin’ Back Home.” It’s all here folks… the best basic elements of the-real-thang-houserockin’ blues.
